Hi, I'm Serena, I have recently finished my final year of Visual Communication of Design with honors. I enjoy designing bold, and intuitive designs. I am also always down for a sweet treat with a side of yap—bonus points if it includes chocolate!

Lets talk!

Booze Buddy
2024
My honours project, Booze Buddy, empowers students to take control of their alcohol spending and redirect those funds toward more meaningful goals—like a dream trip to Bali. Initially conceived as a wellness-focused app, I refined its purpose through research and personal experience, pivoting towards budgeting to better resonate with students navigating New Zealand’s binge drinking culture. Booze Buddy carves out a unique space in the budgeting app landscape, with the potential to evolve into a comprehensive financial tool tailored to student expenses.
Flight Lines
2024
This was a fourth-year project, addressing the ISTD brief 'The Line' I chose to work on the nonstop flight line from New Zealand to New York. My outcome is an inflight magazine with everything the pilots do for this long-haul flight travelling the non-stop line to New York, and a poster.
mind the gap
2023
This was a 2nd-year project where we had to identify a current issue in New Zealand today and raise awareness by curating a set of posters. I decided to go with the the gender pay gap.
twenty typefaces that changed the world
2023
In this University project, we had to design a high-quality editorial book based on twenty typefaces that changed the world however the twentieth type face was not given to us we had to research and choose that ourselves.I chose the typeface Nohemi due to its simplicity, I decided to use mid-century furniture to help showcase the typeface due to its simplicity and beautiful curves just like mid century furntiure it fades into the background, like part of the furniture.
PRINTS
2023
Series of prints I made for fun for my flat and friends.
Aftertown Snacks
2024
This was a second-year project based on what food you could get after a night out on the town, a sort of guide of Wellingtons' best places to go after a late night out, an aftertown snack.
Feeling fried
2024
This third-year project challenged us to design a conference for burnt-out designers. I created Feeling Fried, a playful yet relatable concept inspired by the theme of exhaustion. Every design element revolved around the idea of being "fried," including my own custom pancake lettering. My outputs included a poster and a pamphlet for event attendees, as well as two interactive experiences: one featuring pancakes cascading down the stairs and another incorporating cracked eggshells and yolks as playful seating or jumping zones outside.
Zealandia rebrand website
2024
This project involved rebranding Zealandia by refining and enhancing the existing website content to create a bolder, more accessible, and visually engaging design. The goal was to improve readability and ensure a seamless user experience while staying true to Zealandia’s identity.
